Hello! My name is Michael Yuen and I am a voice teacher and vocal coach offering professional voice lessons, audition coaching, performance coaching, and college musical theatre audition preparation. I am a graduate of the University of Michigan’s Musical Theatre Department, hold a master’s degree in theatre, and am a master certified professional coach. I have been teaching voice and musical theatre for over 25 years to students who have been cast on Broadway, National Tour, Regional Theatre, Film, Television, and have been accepted into the top musical theatre programs in the country.

College performers building technique and repertoire for showcase and the transition to professional work
High school singers preparing prescreens and unified auditions for BFA and conservatory programs
Singers who have taken lessons but never understood why something works, and want training they can reproduce on their own
What the work covers
Voice lessons. Classical technique with a modern approach taught and explained both anatomically and through imagery. Whether belting or working on legit rep, vocal health is always paramount in the work that we do together.
Audition coaching. Song choice, interpretation, acting, and physical choices for songs and monologues, plus breakdown analysis, audition book review, and callback preparation for professional calls.
Audition cuts and accompaniment. Cuts edited to land cleanly at 16 or 32 bars, live accompaniment in session, and custom accompaniment tracks for virtual lessons, practice, prescreens, and self-tapes.
College audition preparation. Repertoire selection, cuts, monologues, and prescreen recording, matched to each program's stated requirements. Past students have been accepted into musical theatre programs at University of Michigan, Cincinnati Conservatory of Music - University of Cincinnati, Carnegie Mellon University, NYU Tisch, NYU Stella Adler, Pointe Park University, Ball State University and many more.
